Energy Tips: Lower
Fuel Savings !!
|
| New
vs. Old |
- Fuel and utility bills across the
country are at the highest they have ever
been before. There is no relief in sight, which is why we are
giving you
some advice on how to save on cost
|
- If your present heating and air
conditioning system (15 years or older) is still in working
order, from an economic point of view, it would be wise to
replace the systems.
|
- Comparing the operational cost of
the new verses old, a savings of up to
40% can be achieved. Most furnaces installed prior to 1985 had
efficiency ratings of 60%. The efficiency ratings of new
equipment, are now over 90%. It is very simple arithmetic to
determine the annual savings.
|
- The air conditioning systems have
virtually the same principle. The units
installed before 1985 had a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating
(SEER) of 6 or below. The lowest rating of the equipment today
is a 10 SEER. Air conditioning units are available up to a
15 SEER. If the older equipment is replaced with a 10 SEER
model, savings on operational costs of up to 40% could be
achieved.
|
- If your budget allows, also
installing an air cleaner and humidifier can help the systems of
today operate more efficiently, as well as helping allergy
sufferers.
